Eyes Closed - Solo Show

The subtle, yet deliberate layering in Italian visual artist Nunzio Paci's paintings embraces the sense of depth and fluidity in his works for “Eyes Closed”. It allows viewers to feel as though they are witnessing a gradual transformation—a merging of the body with nature, a collision between birth and decay, a storm of botanical fantasy and the reality of life in temporal. Expressed in a density of graphite, acrylic and tempera, this series of works portrays women in states of slumber and meditation. This atmosphere of vulnerability creates a paradoxical catharsis where the abundant flowers personify an articulated wildness.
Paci’s dreamlike exhibition untangles the intangible and ever-intriguing dialogues between humans and nature, only to involve the states of the subconscious as a vital element of what it means to fully be absorbed and rooted into one’s surroundings. “Eyes Closed” is an ethereal depiction of what the world is and what it becomes.
